Pick one number that matters this quarter

Ten KPIs on a dashboard is not a strategy. One number, tracked properly, is.

Founders love dashboards. Revenue, leads, churn, margin, NPS — all tracked, all colour-coded, all mostly ignored after the first month.

The businesses that actually move are the ones that pick one number — the number that, if it improved, would matter more than any other this quarter — and build the next twelve weeks around it.

That doesn't mean the other numbers stop existing. It means everyone in the business knows, without checking a dashboard, what the one thing is that we're trying to shift right now.

If you can't say your one number in a sentence, you don't have one yet. Pick it this week.
