Roster for burnout prevention, not just coverage

A roster that only solves for coverage is quietly costing you your best people.

Most rosters are built around one question: is every shift covered? That's necessary, but it's not sufficient — and it's why good practitioners quietly burn out even in a fully-staffed practice.

A roster built for sustainability asks a second question: is anyone carrying an unreasonable share of the hard shifts, the difficult patients, the after-hours load, week after week, without anyone noticing the pattern?

Burnout rarely announces itself. It shows up as slowly declining energy, then as a resignation that surprises everyone except the person who handed it in.

Look at your roster from the last three months. Whose load has quietly crept up, and does anyone know?
